My Story

In 2007, I attended an event for moms of preschoolers that completely changed that way I thought about Christmas.  The concept was simple--keep focused on Christ throughout the Christmas season and take advantage of the teachable moments.  Who wouldn't want to do that? The speaker was a Godly woman who had four adult children and several grandchildren.  She had so many great ideas, and she was leaving quite a legacy.  I was determined to do the same for my little ones.
We started small that first year.  Since then, our family's Christmas plan has grown and evolved.  Each December, we now have a family Bible verse, a Christmas carol, a series of family nights and daily activities. Our children, Grace (age 7) and Sam (age 6), have a ton of fun and learn so much.
Through this blog, I will be sharing what Christmas looks like in our home.  I will include my favorite resources, pictures, helpful tips and, hopefully, words of encouragement.  Also each Sunday beginning on November 20th, I will post our family night materials (both for this year and from previous years when our children were younger) and our daily activities for the upcoming week.

We try to keep things simple throughout the month of December.  The activities and crafts that we do are not complicated or extravagant.  They are fun, and they are things that my young children can actually do.  We are not going to win any awards for presentation!  Our goal is to have as much quality time together as possible and to identify and create powerful teachable moments.
If you are looking for a way to be intentional with your children and are trying to stay focused in the mist of the hustle and bustle of this holiday season, I hope that this blog might be a starting point for your family.  I also hope that you will share your ideas with me.
Rejoice! "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."  Luke 2:11

Just for fun, here are a couple of pictures of Grace and Sam from Christmas 2007.
