Shhhhhh! There are Secret Santas on the Loose!

Again, in effort to shift the focus away from the kids and what they will be getting for Christmas and on to others, we will be having two types of Secret Santas in our house this year.  First, we are each going to draw a name of someone from our immediate family and do nice things for them throughout the week.  The goal is to not get caught and to surprise them whenever we decide to reveal who each of us have been serving.  We have not tried this before, but I am hoping that this will work really well with our good deed garland activity that we are talking about during family night  and starting today.

The second type of Secret Santa was greatly encouraged by Ruth Meeks in her Redeeming Christmas message and involves someone outside of our family.  Although toy drives and other charitable causes are great, there is just something different about helping a specific, identifiable person or family.  After being given a few options, Grace has choosen a family for us to adopt this Christmas.  She has asked her friends that she invited to her birthday party (which is in a couple of weeks) to bring something for this family instead of bringing a gift for her.  When we talked about delivering the gifts to the family in secret, her face lit up. She was grinning ear to ear and asked if we could leave them at their house, ring the doorbell and run. I am really hoping that we can pull this off without getting caught!

Here is the first Secret Santa note that we found.  Pretty sweet.
